Anxiety can feel like a storm inside your chest. Your mind keeps running. Your body feels tired. Your heart worries about tomorrow, family, health, money, work, relationships, and things you cannot control.
The Bible does not ignore anxiety. God’s Word speaks directly to the worried heart. Scripture does not shame you for feeling anxious; it invites you to bring your fear into the presence of God.
1. Philippians 4:6–7 — Pray Instead of Carrying Everything Alone
“Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God.” — Philippians 4:6
This verse teaches us what to do when anxiety comes. Bring every situation to God. Nothing is too small or too big for prayer.
Prayer: Lord, I bring this anxiety to You. Guard my heart and mind with Your peace. Teach me to trust You one step at a time. Amen.
2. 1 Peter 5:7 — Cast Your Anxiety on God
“Cast all your anxiety on him because he cares for you.” — 1 Peter 5:7
God does not tell you to hide your anxiety. He tells you to cast it on Him because He cares for you.
Prayer: Father, I give You what I cannot control. Thank You for caring for me. Help me rest in Your love. Amen.
3. Isaiah 41:10 — God Is With You in Fear
“So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God.” — Isaiah 41:10
Fear becomes stronger when you feel alone. God answers fear with His presence: “I am with you.”
Prayer: Lord, remind me that You are with me. Strengthen me where I feel weak and lead me through this day. Amen.
4. Matthew 6:34 — Grace for Today
“Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself.” — Matthew 6:34
Anxiety often pulls tomorrow’s problems into today. Jesus brings you back to the grace available right now.
Prayer: Jesus, help me not to carry tomorrow before it arrives. Give me grace for today. Amen.
5. Psalm 94:19 — God Comforts the Anxious Heart
“When anxiety was great within me, your consolation brought me joy.” — Psalm 94:19
This verse is honest. Anxiety can be great within you, but God’s comfort is greater.
Prayer: Lord, comfort me. Speak peace over my mind and bring joy back into my spirit. Amen.
6. John 14:27 — The Peace Jesus Gives
“Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you.” — John 14:27
The peace Jesus gives is not based on perfect circumstances. It is strong enough for painful seasons.
Prayer: Jesus, give me the peace only You can give. Calm my heart and quiet my thoughts. Amen.
7. Psalm 56:3 — Trust When Fear Comes
“When I am afraid, I put my trust in you.” — Psalm 56:3
Faith does not mean fear never comes. Faith means when fear comes, you know where to place it.
Prayer: Lord, when I am afraid, I put my trust in You. Help me walk by faith today. Amen.
A Short Prayer for Anxiety
Father, I come to You with an anxious heart. I cast my worries on You because You care for me. Fill me with Your peace, guard my mind, and remind me that I am not alone. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
If anxiety becomes overwhelming or constant, it is wise to speak with a trusted pastor, counselor, doctor, or mental health professional. Seeking help does not mean you lack faith.
